At John West, we’ve been selling fish for over 150 years and we plan to carry on doing the same forever. That’s why we’re committed to sustainable fishing, making sure our oceans can be home to fish for future generations to enjoy forever. 'SeaChange®' refers to Thai Union’s (our parent company) approach to sustainability. SeaChange® is designed to deliver real and lasting change in the way we operate, lead and influence. In addition, at John West, we have partnered with WWF, as a key part of our journey towards MSC certification.

Our Partnership with WWF
Did you know that the sea covers 70% of the planet and over one billion people rely on fish as their primary source of protein? At John West, we believe that sustainability is therefore vitally important.
This is the reason why we have partnered with WWF.

We believe that traceability is the backbone of seafood sustainability. We will continue our work to trace each of our products back to its source - allowing us to monitor the operations, actions and labour conditions of our suppliers.
We will source 100% of our branded tuna from fisheries that are either Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) certified, or engaged in Fishery Improvement Projects (FIPs) to move them towards MSC certification.
People and Communities
Did you know that we are contributing funding to WWF's Coastal East Africa programme, which is vital to supporting food security and sustainable resources for millions of locals in the region?
Safe and Legal Labour
Providing safe, legal and freely-chosen employment in our facilities and supply chain is critically important to Thai Union (our parent company). Did you know that our overseas plants are audited independently against the BSCI (Business for Social Compliance Initiative) Code of Conduct and that a third-party verifies that the tuna vessels supplying us comply with the provisions of Thai Union’s business ethics and labour Code of Conduct?
Climate change is a threat to not only the environment, but also society and the economy. We believe that the way we operate has to be environmentally responsible and also show a duty of care for our workers. Thai Union (our parent company) has initiatives in place that contribute to water reduction, waste to landfill reduction, reducing greenhouse gas emissions and accident reduction.
