Get ‘zesty’ with a can or two of Tuna and you can make our succulent fish even more mouthwatering. Being zesty is all about sharp and tangy taste sensations with a hint of spiciness about them, and the simple, but simply delicious way to add zest to your Tuna is through a Vinaigrette dressing.

Try dressing for dinner with this zesty Vinaigrette

There are lots of ways to make a zesty Vinaigrette with lemons or limes and this one is my current favorite. To make it, you’ll need the following ingredients: ½ cup fresh lemon juice, 2 tbsp. chopped parsley, 2 tbsp. of water, 1 teaspoon dried oregano, 1 tbsp. olive oil, 1 tbsp. honey, 1 tbsp. Dijon mustard, 1 teaspoon salt, ½ teaspoon crushed fennel seeds, ¼ teaspoon crushed red pepper, 2 garlic cloves, minced.

Making the Vinaigrette couldn’t be easier. Just combine all the ingredients in a jar then secure the lid tightly and shake vigorously Very vigorously.  Next, throw together an equally simple salad from 1 can of drained Tuna chunks, some olives, capers, cherry tomatoes, and chopped rocket leaves, then pour over the Vinaigrette dressing and let stand for a few minutes until all the flavours have fully absorbed into the salad. And if it happens to be the weekend when you’re preparing this dish, it’s a good idea to accompany it with a glass of crisp, chilled white wine which complements it to perfection.

Stuffed Potatoes with added zing

Another quick and easy zest packed dish, is Lemon & Thyme Tuna Stuffed Potatoes. In this instance the zest is already conveniently there, in the pack of handy John West Infusions Tuna with Lemon & Thyme, which is at the heart of the recipe. You’ll also need some chives, cream cheese and a few other choice ingredients, not forgetting a couple of large, freshly baked spuds. Tuna Tabbouleh - zest on zest

My final Tuna with zest suggestion is this Tuna Tabbouleh Recipe, which is an exotic little treat that’s simply loaded with flavour. For this dish I’ve gone for a pack of John West Tuna with a Twist, which is a great combination of our wonderful wild fish with a lime and cracked black pepper dressing. Add this already prepared mixture to bulgar wheat flavoured with the juice of 1 whole lemon and you get a zest on zest taste explosion, which will blow your tastebuds apart. Well those are just three relatively easy ways of getting zesty with the Tuna and transforming simple snacks and light meals into something with plenty of flavour and lots of zip.

Never forget that canned or packet Tuna from John West is not only one of the tastiest things in your food cupboard, but also one of the most versatile. All you have to do is add a little imagination.
