TUNA SALADS DRESSED FOR DINNER!
By Simon – Ship’s Cook
A salad, is a salad, is a salad, right? Wrong! If you want your Tuna Salad to have a more enthusiastic response when you serve it, you need to be a little more adventurous when you make it. In other words, experiment a bit and add some excitement.
Now don’t get me wrong, a simple Tuna Salad of basic ingredients like lettuce, tomato and cucumber is quite tasty in itself, but it’s never going to get taste buds tingling or mouths watering. So if you want to put Tuna Salad back on the menu for yourself, your partner or your family, it’s time to get creative and turn the ordinary into the outstanding. Coming up are three ways you can do just that, so dig out your salad bowl and off we go.
Mixed Bean Magic in Minutes
It takes just 10 minutes to throw this together, so you can’t complain about not having enough time to do something different. All you need are two cans of John West No Drain Tuna, two cans of mixed beans, and a few choice ingredients for the salad and dressing. It’s very simple to make and because you’re using No Drain Tuna, it’s quick, clean and fuss free too.
And the end result is a healthy light meal with loads of flavour and a nice mix of soft and crunchy textures. Check out the full recipe here.
Infusions Tuna, Greek Style
Now this sensational salad takes around 25 minutes and it’s worth every second of your time, but maybe you should save it for dinner parties or weekends when you can spend a little longer to prepare it. To get your salad off to a delicious start, use two tubs of John West Infusions Tuna with Basil, then add red onions, red peppers, black olives and a few more simple ingredients that you’ll find in my recipe. It has a very zesty dressing too, which adds to the overall fresh taste and gives you a salad bursting with flavour. Find out what’s in it and how to make it here.
There’s Nothing Nicer than a Nicoise
A classic Tuna Nicoise is one of my all time favourite salads, so put one together in under 15 minutes and see if its popular as I think it will be. Use 1 to 2 cans of John West Tuna Chunks, depending on how fish-packed you want it to be, along with some eggs, green beans, black olives and other good stuff. What you get is a big, colourful bowl of deliciously dressed salad with a marvelous Mediterranean flavour. Get clued up as to ingredients and preparation here, then get cracking.
There you go folks. Three very healthy, mega-tasty Tuna Salads that are anything but dull, and are all simple and inexpensive to make. Serve with a baked potato or some nice, crusty bread and enjoy.
You’ll find plenty more Tuna Salad recipes and money off coupons too on the John West website, so go cruising for meal ideas and make all your salad days exciting ones!!
