Here at John West we have always known that fish is good for you. But Government guidelines say we should all be eating more fish - at least two portions of fish a week to be exact *. Canned fish is an excellent source of protein and it retains a high proportion of the naturally occurring essential vitamins and minerals, such as selenium and iodine - not to mention Omega-3 . Unlike fresh Tuna, Tuna canned in brine or spring water is surprisingly low in fat (the canning process removes a lot of the fat) and is therefore useful for those watching their calorie or fat intake. It is also high in protein which makes it a healthy choice for any meal.
Many canned fish varieties such as Salmon, Sardines, Herring and Mackerel are naturally high in long chain Omega-3 fatty acids. Oily Fish is also a good source of Vitamins A and D. John West is dedicated to helping you make fish a part of your busy, but healthy lifestyle, and are continually developing new, exciting ways to enjoy it. We now offer healthy, complete meals such as the Tuna Light Lunch range. Naturally delicious and nutritionally balanced, Tuna Light Lunch has less than 250 calories and is completely free from artificial colours and preservatives.
*The Government recommends at least 2 portions of fish a week, one of which should be an oily fish.
